Book Week

As part of book week Year 1 enjoyed listening to stories read by some of the dads. They read
stories about pirates, dinosaurs, hamsters, a selfish crocodile and a mouse looking for a house. Year 1 then talked about their favourite books and places to read. Miss Wing likes to read on the beach on holiday and Mrs Johnson loves to read curled up on her chair by the fire! Lots of the children visited the book fair and bought new books to share at home.

Outdoor learning!

Within our science work we have been learning about sounds. We each made a musical instrument out of junk materials. We had to make sure that we could pluck, shake or bang them to create a sound. We then used these instruments in the playground to investigate what happens to sound as we travel away from it. We proved that sounds get fainter when we move further away from them.

Healthy eating!

As part of our design and technology work we tasted and prepared lots of different types of fruit. Strawberries, blueberries and pineapple were our favourites! We then designed our own fruit kebabs in a repeating pattern and had great fun making them. The best part came at the end when we were allowed to eat them in school. We thought they were delicious!
