Arbeia

On Monday 21st June Year 2 went to the Roman Fort Arbeia at South Shields to continue our learning about the Romans. We were able to look around the fort to see where the soldiers would have lived. We got to look inside the barracks and see how small and dirty they were. Eight soliders slept in each room. We also saw the Commanders house which was very big and bright. We had great fun in the Time Quest pretending to be archaeologists. We found pieces of pottery and bones hidden under rocks and in holes. In the museum there was a skelton with grave goods. We had to work out if it was male or female. Why don't you have a trip to Arbeia to see if you can discover the correct gender. Good luck!
